Here is a great example of why I include a thermal imaging scan on every home inspection. This scan revealed a large amount of missing insulation in the livingroom and this would be difficult to repair from the interior. The inspection also revealed that this home needed a new roof within the next year. Instead of pulling out drywall with potentially asbestos containing material, I recommended that the insulation be added when the roof was replaced. One year later my client sent me a picture of the missing insulation during the roof replacement.
